Documentation Information
Requirements for documentation vary based on the countries you are planning to visit. We recommend that you contact the nearest United States Embassy or Consulate for the most current updates.
In most cases, you will need a valid passport when leaving your country of residence. Please remember to sign your passport. Some countries require you to have a visa for entry.
Don’t be surprised… Some countries also require proof of onward travel (such as itinerary/receipt), sufficient funds for the length of your stay or a confirmation from your hotel.

U.S. citizens traveling to Canada
U.S. citizens traveling to Canada are strongly encouraged to carry proof of their U.S. Citizenship. One of the following documents are accepted:
- Passport
- Birth certificate*
- Certificate of Naturalization or Birth Abroad*
- Consular Report of Birth Abroad*
