Will access to award travel seats be restricted online?
United's website links directly with the United Airlines reservations system, providing the same functionality as other outlets that are used for redeeming travel. United.com checks for an available seat and the system will either display a list of flights with award seats or indicate that no qualifying flights are available.

How do I change or cancel my award travel reservation once it is made and confirmed?
You must call United Reservations to make a change to the award travel reservation.

What is the difference between Saver and Standard Awards?
Saver awards cost less miles but have more restrictions. Standard awards cost more miles, but have few restrictions on seat inventory. For example, a domestic saver award value is 25,000 miles.

Do I need to be ticketed prior to requesting an upgrade online? Or is the upgrade requested prior to the end of the transaction?
Yes, you must be ticketed via United.com in order to request an upgrade. The 500 mile upgrade kit must be used.

When are miles posted to my Mileage Plus account?
Air miles are posted to your account approximately 1 day after a trip has been completed. Mileage Plus First Card miles are posted after all or a portion of the bill has been paid.

Can I purchase tickets for a traveling companion?
Yes, but you, the credit card holder must be present at check-in.

Can I book award travel for my family members from my account (i.e. purchase 4 tickets with the miles accrued in one account)?
Yes, however all travelers must have the same last name. If a traveller has a different last name from the Mileage Plus member who is redeeming the miles, then the ticket must be picked up at the airport or a City Ticket Office and a photo ID must be presented by the member.

Yes. A seat map is displayed if you click on "Choose Seats".

Will I still receive my hotel and car vouchers from Mileage Plus?
Yes. Online redemption availability does not change the current Mileage Plus procedures.

Can I electronically submit an E-Ticket, car rental or hotel stay for credit if they failed to submit for Mileage Plus credit when the trip was taken?
There is currently no functionality to allow for electronic submittal of mileage credit. You must follow the standard procedure for requesting retroactive credit.

Is there a prompt when award travel seats are not available?
Yes. The system will reply that there are no qualifying flights or that a Saver award is not available.
